Instrumentation Fittings, Valves and Gauges

DK-Lok Fittings and Valves Australian Distributor Instrumentation Products Korean manufacturer quality that can be trusted to be specified.

Valve and Flow Control Specialists (DK Lok Australian Distributor Oct 2021) is pleased to introduce the DK-LOK product portfolio of Instrumentation Fittings and Valves. We are a DISTRIBUTOR we do not make panels, assemble systems and not a contractor doing installations. That is the domain of some of our valued customers with whom we partner and work closely with helping them achieve their goals. These days that is an important factor when selecting a supplier as some “instrumentation distributors” have expanded into their traditional customers markets.

Since 1986, DK-LOK Korea have manufactured Fittings and Valves earning worldwide acceptance on instrumentation, process and mechanical piping systems. Above all quality has been DK-Lok’s driving factor leading to the certification of ASME N, NPT, NS STAMP along with independent global product testing and certification agencies, as LR, GL, ABS, DNV, RWTUV and NK.

DK-Lok Instrumentation fittings and Valves are all manufactured in South Korea. Unlike some manufacturers sourcing from various plants in different countries like India and China DK-Lok impeccable quality control is within the confines of their Korean base.

With the addition of a solid distribution structure backing their own exemplarily service they are an approved manufacturer to customers such as Exxon Mobil, Aramco, Shell Oil, Conoco Phillips, Dow and BASF. Their R& D is constantly active taking on new markets such as AFV’s and we are glad to distribute the entire range. A brief product snippet is outlined in the below PDF’s.

Special service applications

Korea is leading the Hydrogen Fuel vehicle technology and DK-Lok is at the forefront of this drive locally and exporting it to the world follow the link here to find out more.

Valves for OXYGEN service and Ultraclean fittings (refer under industries drop down menu) are all prepared at the factory in DK-Lok’s 100 class Clean room to ASTM specifications.

Fittings and Valves for CNG NGV services are not standard fittings and they have their own “Certificate” requirements to comply with the service. The link CNG NGV here will explain further.

Instrument Tube and Pipe Fittings

DK-Lok twin ferrule tube fittings are the only known manufacturer independently TUV ASTM F 1387 tested, certified and warranted by DK-lok to be fully interchangeable and intermixable with equivalent SWAGELOK fittings. Copies of documents on request. This gives our clients the freedom of choice not being locked into one manufacturer, the advantages of which are obvious. DK-Lok warranty covers both fittings covered by additional insurances giving clients security and confidence to select DK-Lok.

For Hydrogen service EC79 certified fittings are Twin ferrule (350bar) and ORFS (700Bar).

For those clients that have never upgraded to the twin ferrule fittings DK-Lok also manufacture the single ferrule fitting compatible with the PARKER CPI equivalent fittings. Some oil and gas as well as hydraulics companies still use this style of fitting to maintain historic uniformity. The DK-Lok Z series fitting has the black molybdenum disulfide coated nut like the CPI fitting making them easily identified.

PIPE FITTINGS in forged steel, Galvanized Steel and Stainless steel in class 3000psi, 6000psi and 9000psi by DK-Lok are available in socket weld and threaded ends (NPT). Size range is from 6nb (1/8″) through to 100nb (4″) in 3000psi and up to 50nb (2″) in 6000psi and 900psi.

Grease fittings such as internal ball check, body vent bleeder, giant button head grease nipples and packing injectors are also manufactured by DK-Lok. These fittings allow you to inject grease into the likes of valves or cylinders etc. without effecting the operational integrity of the equipment, Particularly on Valving grease fittings can be an emergency safety feature NOT just a lubrication point hence DK-Lok only manufacture these in 316 stainless steel. This ensures the integrity of the valving / pipelines and worker safety in an emergency operation procedure. To fit a carbon steel fitting in this situation is against good logical engineering practice.

Quick Connectors are available in a number of styles by DK-Lok, and compatible with Swagelok. The popular DQ series are available in Brass (Nitrile O ring standard) and Stainless (FKM O ring standard). Quick connectors require no tools to couple or uncouple and are bi-directional. Options are Single end shutoff (SV), double end shutoff (DV) and both end open (DF). Generally speaking Brass pressure ratings are up to 2000psi, Stainless to 3000psi. Some can be 4500 and 6000psi with PTFE seals (refer individual data sheets for specifics).

Tube Swaging Tools and Clamps

Most Tube assemblies are done by hand with wrenches from 1/8 to 1″ size fittings/tube on a day to day work however on Project work / larger jobs where consistent repetitive assemblies are required to save the instrument fitters labour and speed up the process you will need to consider assisting procedures with pre-swaging /swaging units. DK Lok offer 3 units:

The DPS is a small unit of which each relates to the matching tube size from 1/8″ to 1″. This is still a manual unit but speeds up the swage process. For tube / fittings above 1″ due to the physical requirements it is necessary to use a specific quality swaging unit and these come in two sorts, Hydraulic and Electric.

The Hydraulic unit DHS-2A by DK-Lok is portable, coming in its own case and with changeable heads will do from 1/2″ through to 2″ assemblies with ease much faster than the manual method.

The Electric Swaging unit DES-1A is portable, coming in its own case with changeable heads covers from 1/2″ through to 2″ assemblies. This is an extremely fast unit and does the work with very little effort at the touch of a button. On larger projects or for ongoing convenience this is the ideal unit to have on site. This unit being heavier than the others and is ideally a benchtop / service vehicle unit and being electric requires a power source.

Standard Tube Clamps consist of 2 poly body shells and 316 Stainless steel plates bolted together to suit Fractional / Imperial tube. With industry standard dimensions it makes them a universal style clamp with similar types. They are available in single and double styles.

Valves

Manifold Valves come in a variety of 2,3 and 5 way versions used in conjunction with instrumentation. As such 2 valve manifolds are designed for liquid level and static pressure applications. 3 and 5 way versions are designed for pressure differential applications. A single valve manifold is also known as a Gauge Root Valve. They allow for 3 female connections for the likes of vent lines and transmitters. Dk-Lok manifolds are a non rotating tip style which gives tight shut off, reduces wear that attributes to a long service life.

DK-Lok’s V46A VHS Gauge Bleed Valve (Gauge Vent Valve) aka Bleeder screw Gauge Valve is the most cost effective compact design in Instrumentation, Hydraulic and Pneumatic applications. Some others may also refer to them as block and bleed gauge valves. Rotation of the bleed screw allows static pressure venting through a side outlet bleed hole in the valve body. Once vented the screw is then tightened covering internally the bleed outlet. These are a most commonly M x F threaded design in 1/2″ NPT connections however also available with F x F in 1/4 and 3/8″ along with BSP threads.

The DK-Lok VBV Vent Bleed Valve is used in conjunction with the Gauge Root and Manifold valves. They give safe controlled manual venting or bleeding off to atmosphere of isolated line pressure to gauges and instruments for service maintenance or calibration. They are also ideal for bleeding off hydraulic systems. For the CNG / NGV industry they are Certified to ECE ISO ANSI Standards at the applicable pressures and temperatures.

The Purge valve VPV is a manual valve used to vent / purge or drain air or fluid lines by rotating the retained knurled cap a quarter turn by hand. Releasing the media is via a 1.6mm drain port. Materials of construction can be brass or stainless with seating as metal or PTFE with threaded or DK-Lok ends.

The DK-Lok Double block and bleed (DBB) valve range also covers singe Block configurations. They are usually in the form of a combination of Ball and needle valves. The blocking action enables the engineers to bleed off or vent or drain the remaining fluid from the system on the downstream side in order to execute work (maintenance/ repair/ replacement), sampling, flow diversion, chemical injections, integrity check for leakage etc. They are an ideal unit that saves space weight time and money compared to traditional valve pipework. The monoflange valves are a short wafer style that reduce the footprint even further.

Needle valves

Needle Valves from DK-Lok are available in 6,000psi Fig VB16 in standard and angle pattern. The 10,000 psi needle valves V46A are standard pattern only. End connections can be DK-Lok for direct tube connection, Female threaded ends and Male by Female ends. DK-Lok needle valves are a non rotating tip design that enhances the lifespan of the valve giving positive seating.

General Purpose Forged needle valves for pressures up to 5000psi in standard straight through or angle pattern design. They are available in threaded or DK-Lok ends with metal regulating tip, metal stop tips or Kel F soft seats. An ideal panel work needle valve with round or T handle.

Large bore Needle Valves from 1″ through to 2″ are not in the traditional Instrumentation range, DK-lok and others stop at 3/4″. We have extended the scope of supply offering these in BSP, NPT and Socket weld ends in pressure 3000 and 6000 psi CWP. Standard materials are A105 steel and 316 stainless however others such as Inconel Monel or Super Duplex are available in reasonably quick deliveries.

Cryogenic needle valves have the extended stem suitable for services down to minus 196 Deg C.

Rising Stem Plug Valves look like a needle valve but have a wedge plug arrangement that gives a straight through path flow configuration. Available as a “Hand Valve Style” and Gauge Bleed Valve option.

Instrumentation Blowdown Valves like the V16W are designed for fully open and fully closed operation where positive blowdown is desired. An example being sample cooler or vent line service. . The standard V16 and VH16 is used for severe service control and venting applications. These have the typical regulating or ball head. Both styles have are a robust union bonnet design with a non-rotating tips that gives long service life.

Toggle Valves like needle valves have a linear action but are spring loaded in a flick to open or close action. They are mostly used as on-off valves commonly used in gas sampling, analysis systems and test equipment. Due to their application they are a low pressure valve (up to 300psi) available in sizes from 1/8″ to 1/2″ in threaded and DK-Lok ends.

Ball Valves

The DK-Lok V86 series ball valves can be a straight through type OR 3 way in stainless steel. The 3 way are available in side or bottom entry for pressure up to 10,000 psi and temperatures up to 260 Deg C. New through Valve and Flow Control Specialists we can now cater for temperatures up to 330 Deg C. (2022)

VH86 series ball valves are 6000 psi rated in 2 and 3 way design in stainless steel material. They are more a hand valve lending themselves to panel work as the handles are black nylon as opposed to longer metal levers. They are also panel mount as standard also available with actuation options.

The V82 series ball valves are a versatile design that handles low temp and heated applications to 150 Deg C. They are available in sizes from 1/16″ to 1/2″. Patterns can be straight through (2 way), 3 way, 4 way and 5 ways. For pressures up to 3000psi they are popular in oxygen service applications and lend themselves to actuation. Bodies are either in Brass or stainless steel.

V81 series ball valves are a 2 piece straight through design for pressures up to 2000psi in brass, stainless, monel, alloy 20 and hastelloy bodies. Sizes range from 1/4″ to 2″ in DK-Lok ends, MF and FF threaded ends.

V83 series Ball valves are a 3 piece straight through design for pressures up to 3,000 psi in steel and stainless steel. Sizes range from 1/4″ through to 1″. End connections can be DK-Lok, FF threaded, buttweld and socket weld for tube or pipe. Options allow for Actuation, upstream or downstream venting and a variety of seats materials.

V23 series Plug Valves are a quarter turn valve similar to a ball valve operation however the plug seat surrounds the plug 360 degrees giving a full sealing area. V23’s are rated up to 3000psi and available in Brass or 316 Stainless steel in threaded ends or DK-Lok tube fitting ends. An option is a side vent which allows venting of the plug cavity to atmosphere when in the closed position.

Check Valves

These V33 and V36 check valves by DK-Lok are inline style non return valve operating with spring assistance also known as poppet checks for pressure rating up to 3000psi and 6000psi. Available in either a fixed or adjustable cracking pressures.

Relief Valves

The V63 and V66 relief valves by Dk-Lok are typical right angle design and adjustable within the selected spring range. They are a progressive lift design not to confused with the rapid pop type ASME boiler service relief valves. The exception to this is the V61 which is a vent valve for upright applications.

These relief valves can be fitted with a manual override button as an option. To specify this add -OVL to the figure number. This option is not mentioned in the literature so to obtain details contact us.

The DK-Lok V64 relief valve is a PED approved proportional lift valve with full flow characteristics across its size range from 1/2″ to 1″ sizes in both carbon steel and stainless steel bodies. The outlet is a consistent 1″ across the range making it an easy selection to size from 15psi to 5500psi spring range cwp 6000psi ( 413 bar) rated. This is a soft seated valve with 3 material selections to suit steam, hydrocarbons and acids. The V64 is a very versatile relief valve in both pressure capabilities and media applications.

The V61 series vent relief valves are in Brass and Stainless for low pressure applications up to 400psi (28Bar). Set pressures are dependent on spring selection ranging from 0.5psi to 150psi. These are a soft seat design with options of materials that now cater from -54 Deg C through to 315 Deg C. Sizes are from 1/8″ through to 1″. These are a very versatile unit making them popular across many industries.

Diaphragm Valves

DK-Lok Diaphragm valves in the VD3 Series have brass or Stainless bodies in 1/4″ size only. Unlike normal “mechanical service” diaphragm valves which use a rubber diaphragm, instrument service valves have metal diaphragms. Typically used in gas control systems or analyzer sampling systems they give high performance extended life cycles. This was enhanced further in 2016 by DK-Lok, upgrading from 316L diaphragms to R30003 Elgiloy diaphragms. These valves operate up to pressures of 3,500psi and available in DK-Lok or threaded ends.

The inline filters are compact requiring removal to clean. By comparison the T filters are more maintenance friendly as they allow the filter cartridge to be dropped out easily for cleaning. Various filter element micron sizes are available and are a spares item if required.

Anderson and Greenwood AGCO Instrumentation Valves are Contract Carbon steel stock items for client reference.

Sampling Accessories

Sample coolers allow safe extraction of boiler water / steam condensate from the system by passing the media through single or double spiral coils for cooling and then usually to a tundish or sample container for analysis.

Sample cylinders give safe clean containment of process samples like hydrocarbon liquids or gases in power plants, refineries etc. Used in conjunction with outage tubes they provide TPED approved storage of samples for transportation to a laboratory for analysis.

The PG-BBE range is designed & manufactured to minimize failures, protect personnel and property, with the emphasis on maintaining quality and accuracy within a general-purpose pressure gauge (old fashioned gauge manufacturing). The case on these is steel chromed or black oven painted Brass connection with phosphor bronze bourdon tube construction. The PG-BBE range is supplied dry or can liquid-filled if extra protection is required against pulsation or vibration. You may find some gauges on the market that come liquid filled as standard as it is needed due to low quality of manufacture. Ours is robust and accurate enough to operate dry.

Standard scales are offered in dual bar / psi (1 bar =100kpa). The PG-BBE units are a robust gauge for an entry level gauge which is unusual in the market these days. Scale ranges from 0 – 1,000 bar. Most other entry GP gauges only go to 400bar. This highlights the quality of the product.

Our Industrial gauges are an all stainless steel gauge, (i.e. case, connection and bourdon tube) as standard. Some of the competition still maintain a copper alloy bourdon tube in their stainless versions requiring another upper level price jump to gain the SS bourdon tube. Again like our General Purpose gauges these can be 0-1,000bar. These are a very cost effective gauge in todays market yet the quality competes with competitors expensive heavy duty models.

Gauge accessories – Pigtail Syphons, U Syphons, Snubbers, Diaphragm seals

Pressure gauge syphons are used to protect the pressure gauge from the effects of hot pressure media such as steam and also to reduce the effect of rapid fluctuation pressure surges. Our VCS syphons threaded male x male are from 316L Shed 80 seamless pipe in either BSP or NPT. Traditional male x female are also available. Between the pigtail and the gauge, a gauge bleed valve or ball valve is installed to give gauge isolation for maintenance / repair access. Monel material is also available.

Machine Glass Thermometers have a solid brass casing, reliable and accurate. They are standard equipment in marine engineering, mechanical and plant engineering, as well as heating and air conditioning sectors. The advantages of a glass thermometer over other thermometers such as dial thermometers or electronic versions are: no mechanical moving parts, no material fatigue, no electrical energy requirement, repeatably accurate and long service life.

Our standard bimetal thermometers are simplistic and affordable. Either bottom entry or rear entry design made from chrome steel being corrosion-resistant material, so they withstand rust/chemical attacks and tough industrial use. The units are sealed to the head making them hermetically sealed with phosphor bronze unit. 1/4″ and 1/2 BSPT Brass connection. The advantage of this material is its heat conductivity advantages over stainless. In the majority of cases the stem is encased in a stainless steel thermowell when installed. Temperature ranges from 0 up to 500 Degree C, with stem lengths from 50mm up to 1 meter. There is a choice of dial sizes, 63mm, 100mm and 160mm. Capillary versions have lengths from 1 to 5 meters.

For those that require a full stainless steel case, internals and stem we can also off this as an option. The requirement for full stainless steel is sometimes preferred in the food and beverage or petrochemical sectors. Our stainless also come with an adjustable version allowing the dial profile to be adjusted to suit the viewer.

A thermowell is a cylindrical fitting used to protect temperature sensors installed when measuring liquid such as in the production of beer, the thermowell protects the thermometer when measuring the temperature as well as protects the liquid from contamination. The thermowell acts as a barrier between the device measuring temperature and the liquid as well as the liquid from the outside air. They are recommended whenever a temperature element is to be inserted into a process where corrosion, pressure, abrasion, or shear forces may threaten the life of the element. In addition, thermowells allow for a defective instrument to be removed without shutting down or draining the process. They can be brass or stainless as standard with options of exotic materials such as Hastelloy or Inconel for high end industrial applications.

Calibration

All measuring instruments decrease in accuracy over time, some factors being general wear and tear, harsh environments, or misuse. Various manufacturing processes require specific controlled pressure/temperature environments so it is important to ensure your instruments are reading accurate, giving repeatable reliable measurements. Therefore to meet our clients objectives we also offer testing with NATA workshop certificates and in accordance to Australian Standards.

Along with established best quality engineering practices we recommend calibrating your instrument every 12 months. Pressure Gauges – Temperature gauges – Calibrators – Loggers Pres/Temp/Humidity and Safety Valves.
